What's happening?

Royal Mail recently announced that they are increasing their shipping charges - with a particular increase on goods destined to USA.

Nobody likes these kind of increases and whilst we do all we can to mitigate some of the cost unfortunately our prices will have to increase to fall in line with the new tariffs.

Here's what Royal Mail has to say:

"As a result of exceptional cost increases outside of our control, we are reluctantly introducing pricing changes for parcels being sent to the USA from 1 July. We are limiting the increase to only recover the costs we are experiencing. These costs are a direct result of:

  • An increase of more than 100% in the fees the US Postal Service (USPS) charges for the ‘last mile’ delivery of international mail
  • Securing air freight at inflated market costs due to a 95% reduction in air passenger flights globally following the outbreak of Covid-19.

At Royal Mail, we always aim to deliver the best value international services for our customers. We fully recognise that these changes are significant. This was a decision we reluctantly took but is necessary in view of the increased costs borne by Royal Mail."

When is this happening?

The new prices will be introduced from July 1st 2020.

All of our shipping prices will be updated to reflect these changes on the weekend of the 27th/28th June. This will mean we a ready for when Royal Mail's changes go live on 1st July.

Who and what does this affect?

Royal mail are creating a new zone (World zone 3) that covers North America. Services affected will be small parcels and parcels using the following services:

  • International Tracked & Signed
  • International Tracked
  • International Standard

There are no changes to letter and large letter prices.

Are there alternatives?

The internet is full of innovation and so there are numerous websites and services out there that can offer postal/courier services nowadays. We accept that sometimes these might be cheaper than the services we can provide through Royal Mail.

If is the case and you are happy to organise your own shipping let us know. We will print any labels that you send to us at our end and ship using your preferred service.

Just drop us a message should this be the case.
